Models Own Indian Ocean & Ibiza Mix Swatches

Hello everyone :)
I have a swatch post for you today on two of my new Models Own Polishes - Indian Ocean & Ibiza Mix.

So I'll start out with Ibiza Mix...
From top to bottom: Revlon Lunar, OPI What's With The Cattitude?, OPI Pink Friday, OPI Alpine Snow. All with one coat of Models Own Ibiza Mix.
This glitter will look great over all colours. I also think it'd be a good polish to use in glitter sandwich mani's, I will be posting swatches of this soon :)
Next up Models Own Indian Ocean...
This is one coat (left) and two coats (right) of Indian Ocean over the following polishes:
Top to bottom: OPI What's With The Cattitude?, OPI Pink Friday, OPI Ogre The Top Blue & OPI Alpine Snow.

And this is one coat of Indian Ocean over Revlon Lunar. Again, this polish looks beautiful over many different colours. I really like how different it appears using different base colours.

Do you own either of these Models Own polishes? what is your favourite combination to wear them with? let me know in the comments :)

Floam! & New Models Own Polishes

Hello everyone :)
Today I have a nail post for you all and some swatches of the new models own hed kandi glitter polishes!
I've been looking for the new glitters for about a week since I heard that people had started seeing them pop up in their local boots. Where I go to University, there is a large boots store so I was hopeful I'd find them sooner rather than later. I ventured in today feeling quite happy, the sun was shining and as soon as I walked in these beauties greeted me...
L-R Models Own Disco Heaven, Models Own Indian Ocean & Models Own Ibiza Mix.

I couldn't get my hands on these bottles quick enough! Obviously this put my in an even better mood and off I went to Uni, where I painted the glitters on my already painted nails. So here's some swatches of Disco Heaven and Ibiza Mix over Floam :P I will swatch them again tomorrow on their own and also over black :) if you;d like to see any more layered colour combo's then let me know in the comments and I'll include them in tomorrows post :)
This is two coats of OPI What's With The Cattitude with a layer of Sinful Colors Cinderella on top and then two coats of Nail-Venturous Floam. The blue polishes created a lovely base for Floam to layer on. All the blues melted together and It looked lovely, many people commented on these nails before I put the models own glitter on top. They all suggested it looked like Floam and were happy to know that was the polishes name :P On my ring finger is two coats of Models Own Ibiza Mix, this polish reminds me of a lighter version of OPI Rainbow Connection. It contains small and medium sized multi coloured glitter in a clear base.

Then there's Models Own Disco Heaven...

This swatch isn't great so I apologise but I'll swatch it again tomorrow for everyone :) Models Own Disco Heaven is a gold glitter that also contains some blue and green glitter scattered within it. It's a really beautiful polish that will look lovely in the coming summer months :)

Also, if you're looking for these polishes in boots at the moment, all cosmetics are 3 for 2 so these 3 polishes cost me only £10. As if you needed any more reason to grab them :P

Week 13 Ruffian Mani

Hello everyone :)
Sorry I'm late with this weeks challenge post. I actually finished it last night but it was way too late to post it by the time I was done :P So here it is now! This weeks challenge was the Ruffian mani. I started looking at colour schemes for these nails on google and I couldn't find anything eye catching enough for what I wanted. So I came up with this...
I really loved the skittle mani I did last weekend so I recreated it with softer colours for the base of this weeks ruffian nails. I used two coats of all polishes listed...
Fore finger: Models Own Pink Blush.
Middle finger: Models Own Fuzzy Peach.
Ring finger: China Glaze Happy Go Lucky.
Little finger: Models Own Jade Stone.
I then layered one coat of Revlon Lunar over the top and freehanded the curve. I really love how these nails turn out. I've had many people comment on how it's a great way to use coloured polish without it being too loud, as some people don't like bright colours etc...

Would you wear a skittle based ruffian mani? Let me know in the comments :)

Essence Twins Bella & China Glaze Ray-diant

Hello everyone :)
I thought I'd post about my nails from last week before I put this weeks challenge nails up. My boyfriend bought me some new China Glaze polishes last weekend, two of the magnetics and one of the prismatics and I couldn't wait to try them out. I wanted to layer Ray-diant as I prefer how the prismatics look layered compared to on their own. So here's what I used...
I used two coats of Essence Twins Bella for the base on all nails and then layered one thick coat of China Glaze Ray-diant on top. I really love how this turned out. Me and my mum describe these nails as looking like a Sari because of the colour and the multi coloured glitter scattered through Ray-diant. It looked beautiful. I can't wait to try this polish with different coloured bases, I think that the multi coloured glitter will pop with other colours.

Do you own any of the prismatics from China Glaze? If so how do you wear them and with what colours? Let me know in the comments :)

The Hunger Games - Girl On Fire Nails

Hello everyone! :)
I'm off to see The Hunger Games with my boyfriend tonight. So last night I sat down and thought about what to do with my nails. I wanted to recreate the Mockingjay but I knew I'd never be able to do it without it looking like a huge blobby mess so I settled on Katniss inspired flame nails instead. So here's a look at what I did...
My clean up job on these was rubbish but I needed to get the pictures on here, I was so excited! :P
I used two coats of China Glaze Smoke and Ashes as the base and then topped with my matte top coat. I then drew random flame like shapes on my nails using two coats of H&M Berry Love. I then added two coats of China Glaze Riveting on top of the red but made sure to leave some red polish showing. I then added a further two coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and again left some of the underneath polish showing. This shows the layering of the colours and makes it look fire like. I then topped the flames with one coat of China Glaze Electrify, which I think makes the flames look more alive like the sparks you get coming off fire. I then added a regular topcoat over the flames and matte topcoat on the ring finger nail.
I uploaded this picture onto twitter and pinterest last night and I got the most repins I think I've ever gotten :P I think the colours in this picture really bring out the flames and I just love how it looks.

For this nail art I just used the brush included with the polish, no special tools or anything. I'm thinking about making a tutorial if anyone is interested? Let me know in the comments :)

Zoya Penelope & Connect The Dots

Hello everyone :)
This week has been super hectic! I've had 3 university essay deadlines within days of each other so sorry for the lack of posting. Today I have a quick post for you on the nails I've worn for the past few days, and the first tie ever that I've used Connect The Dots! :D I bought Connect the Dots from a lovely woman on PAA in an auction type thing and I won! So here's what it looks like...
I used two coats of Zoya Penelope as the base colour for these nails. I also recently bought this polish from a lady in PAA too so wanted to try it out :P I really like the colour but am unsure as to whether it suits my red/pinkish skin tone.
I then used one layer of Connect The Dots over the top. This layer got quite thick and gloopy as I had to keep re dipping the brush and applying the glitter to bald spots on my nails. Overall though it turned out quite nice, I can't wait to layer it over different colours and finishes :)
A lot of people commented on how unique it was as many people aren't aware of the madness that is Lynderella, unless they have an extreme obsession with nail polish :P Many of my friends now want a bottle :P

Do you own Connect The Dots? What's your favourite way to wear or layer it? Let me know in the comments :)
Also, keep an eye out for another nail post from me later on today :)

Week 12 Skittle Mani

Hello everyone :)
Here;s my 52 week challenge post! This week we had to do a skittle mani. I've never done one before but I've seen so many great takes on this mani on many blogs. I chose to use basic colours as they looked the best, and also very bright colours to stand out more :) Here's a bottle shot of the polishes I used..
From left to right: H&M Berry Love, Models Own Pink Blush, OPI In My Back Pocket, China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and OPI Did It On 'Em

I used many of my untried polishes in this mani, I've discovered some new favourite colours for summer ;P Anyway onto the nails...
I even managed to get my thumb into this photo! :)
I used two coats of all polishes although I could have gotten away with one coat of Berry Love on my thumb, it's super opaque.

Overall, I really loved this weeks challenge. I think I'll be wearing this mani in different shades and colours throughout the summer. It's just such a fun and cute way to wear colour on your nails.
Have you done a skittle mani? What colours did you use? Let me know in the comments.

China Glaze Riveting & Electrify

Hello everyone :)
Today I have a quick swatch post for you. I recently received the full set of Hunger Games polishes from a lovely lady over in the PAA Group. So as soon as they arrived I sat and thought about which one I wanted to use first. I couldn't choose just one so here's what I did...
I did two coats of China Glaze Riveting on all fingers and then added two coats of China Glaze Electrify to my ring finger. I also added a matte topcoat.
This picture really shows you the beautiful colours of these polishes. The blend of yellow, gold and red glitter in electrify really pops, it's such a beautiful polish :) Riveting is such a bright and beautiful colour. I only have two orange polishes in my collection and this is already my favourite! This colour definitely brightens up the dull days we've been having in England so far :P

What do you think to the Hunger Games polishes? Do you own any? If so how do you wear them? Let me know in the comments :)
Also, I'm nearly at 250 followers! Hopefully they'll be another giveaway soon! :)

Week 11 St. Patrick's Day Nails

Hello everyone :)
Here's this weeks 52 week challenge post! This weeks challenge was to create St. Patrick s Day nails. As soon as I saw this was coming I started looking for ideas on google. Obviously I knew green would involved somewhere :P I finally decided that I wanted to play around with different textures with these nails and use four leaf clovers in the design. So here's what I came up with...
I used 2 coats of OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow Suede for the base on all nails. I then used different sized dotting tools to create the four leaf clovers using Milani Hi-Tech.
I love the different finishes of these polishes together, I think it makes me clovers look they're on grass :P I'm really pleased with how these turned out actually, I think I might be getting the hang of doing dots now! :D
Let me know what you think of this weeks attempt in the comments :)

More Nail Polish Contest Entry

Hello everyone :)
Today I have a post to show you my entry for More Nail Polish's Inspired By Nail Art Contest. The idea of the contest was to create some nail art that is inspired by something, anything really. As I am a dance student I thought I'd base mine on dancing, specifically ballet dancers :) So here's what I came up with...

So here's what inspired each nail... Forefinger: Pointe shoes. Middle finger: tutu skirt. Ring finger: Rhinestone corset. Little finger: hair bun.
Here's what I used for each finger:
Fore finger: 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and 1 coat of OPI Pink Friday for the shoe design.
Middle finger: 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and then lace and pink fabric glued on top.
Ring Finger: 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and 1 coat of OPI Pink Friday for the corset shape. Rhinestones glued on top.
Little finger: 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and 1 coat of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky for the bun and 1 coat of OPI Pink Friday for the hair band.

These nails took me a lot of time and I'm really pleased with how they turned out :) Let me know what you think in the comments :)
Look out for my 52 week challenge post tonight and also a few other posts in the next few days including swatches of Nail-Venturous Floam! :)

Sinful Colors Cinderella & Revlon Whimsical

Hello everyone :)
A quick nail post from me tonight that I've been dying to try out since I received these polishes :) I've seen a lot of people layering Revlon Whimsical over Sinful Colors Cinderella and now I can try it for myself!
I used three coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella as my base, I could have used one more coat as in certain lights I can still see nail line quite visibly. I then layered one coat of Revlon Whimsical over the top. This was more difficult than I thought as Revlon's brushes are quite thin and distributing the glitter was a bit of a pain :P
I really love the beautiful shimmer in Cinderella which you can see above. I also love the light colours of both polishes, baby blue and pink look so lovely together and are one of my favourite combinations :)

Do you have Revlon Whimsical? What other colours do you layer it over? Let me know in the comments :)
Also, I'm doing a mani for this competition tonight - http://www.morenailpolish.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/nail-art-competition-and-giveaway-with.html - I'm so excited! I have a really good idea in mind, hopefully it turns out okay :P I'll be posting that on Sunday but keep an eye out for several posts from me in the next few days :)

Nail Mail & Mac Viva Glam Nicki :)

Hello everyone :)
Just a quick post today to show you some nail mail and a recent make up purchase :) So my postman knocked at my door with two packages for me today and I got very excited.

A lovely lady from PAA sent me Revlon Whimsical which is a major lemming of mine seeing as we can't get it in the UK. She also sent me Sinful Colors Cinderella which I saw many people layering Whimsical over :) I won an auction on Ebay for NOPI Dream Maker :) I've also been stalking Mac's website for a while waiting for Viva Glam Nicki Minaj to go on sale. I love Nicki Minaj so I needed this lipstick! It's a beautiful yellow toned pink and I'm in love with it. Here's how it looks on me...
It translates to a beautiful warm pink colour on the lips, but you can layer it over other lipsticks/lip liners to create a lighter/brighter/darker colour. Even with my pale skin tone I feel it suits me quite well, it's one of those colours that suits almost everyone. I barely ever wear lipstick but I can see me wearing this quite often. It retails for £13.50 and all the money goes to Mac's AIDS/HIV Campaign which I feel is amazing as many companies only donate a percentage of the sale.

I hope you enjoyed reading a bit more about make up on my blog as many of you requested more make up based posts :) Let me know what you think in the comments :)
Also, keep an eye out for a nail post either tonight or tomorrow :)

Week 10 Polka Dot Nails

Hello everyone :)
Time for another 52 Week Challenge post! This week our challenge was Polka Dots. Now when I think of polka dot nails I think that they're boring, |I don't know why. So I've never done one as they never appealed to me. However I knew this was coming up so I'd been looking around on google for a few weeks to prepare :P I came across some pretty pink and white spotty nails that I liked the look of and decided to combine them with something from one of the other challenges that I wanted to revisit, so here it is...
I used two coats of OPI Nail Envy base coat as a starting point for this mani. I then added reinforcement ring stickers and added 3 coats of OPI Pink Friday. I used OPI Alpine Snow to create the grips with a hair grip as I wanted large polka dots and then topped it all off with OPI Rapidry Topcoat.
I really wanted to go back and try half moon nails again and I found some of the reinforcement stickers a few days ago and I was dying to try them out. I thought they would fit quite well with what I wanted to do for this weeks challenge. I left my thumb and ring finger nail plain as I thought if I did all my nails it would be too much and I wouldn't like them. I really like them like this though, I'm so glad I went back and redid the half moon nails :)
I need to work on my polka dot skills though! :P They're not all the same size and shape which irritated me but I don't think they're too bad for my first try :) I think I'll be doing a lot of dots in future mani's to try and get better :p

What do you think to polka dot nails? Have you got any tips on how to create perfect dots? Let me know in the comments :)

Sparkly Purple Nails

Hello everyone :)
Today I have a quick mani post for you :) I asked my boyfriend to pick out a colour for me to paint my nails, he picked purple. I don't really have many purple polishes (around 18) but I recently got China Glaze Octa Gone Wild in a swap so thought I'd use that and do an accent nail. Here's what I did...
I did two coats of China Glaze Octa Gone Wild. I also used three coats of OPI Rumples Wiggin' on my accent nail with one thick coat of Kleancolor Aurora, which is another one of my untrieds.
Here's a shot that's partially in the light but not enough to show the beautiful holo effect of Octa Gone Wild. I love how cute and simple this mani looks without any sunlight and then...
Bammm!! Beautiful super sparkly holo nails in the light, I honestly can't stop staring at
my nails whenever I wear a holographic polish. it surprises me every time :P When I showed my boyfriend what I'd done with his colour of purple he was amazed :P he really loved looking at the holo polish in the sun :P

What do you think to these nails? And holo polish in general? Any favourite holographic polishes of yours, leave in the comments, I need to grow my collection some more :P
